The final plans

This was our first and final plan sheet for our film idea "Diederich". We began planning our storyboards basically straight away, and within about a week, began shooting.

Developing ideas

After our first idea, this was our developing plans. We started talking about a sort of Post-apocalyptic horror, with more pschologically challenging issues such as war and the death of EVERYBODY (Or so they think).
At the bottom, it was also the beginning of the "Diederich" movie.

First Idea

This was our very first full idea that we came up with before diederich. It takes place near corton beach and Links hill, at night time. We were initially set on this idea but then started developing new ideas too. The reason for looking at new ideas, was because one member of the group thought that it was too conventional and would be just like any other horror movie. He also thought it would be too cheesey. So this idea was discarded.

Horror Movie Ideas

After researching, this was our first brainstorming meeting for coming up with a new horror film. We thought we would go for the creepy aspect of horror rather than the gory side as it can get cheesey, and sometimes looks really bad. We also thought that something real and true to life would be better and scarier than something out of this world such as aliens or monsters. It's also developing that creature that would be the challenging part, being pretty much impossible.

We started talking about the history of Lowestoft, and areas at night that could be pretty scary such as corton beach, sparrows nest, and the cycle path/bridge. Having lived in Lowestoft for a number of years, we would know where the best places would be.

Risk Assessment For The Film Shoot

Friday The 10th of December:
Due to a few important factors, we could not film the entire footage on the 10th of december. So we altered our risk assessment to ensure that we did not falter a second time.
The first shoot, we fogot a few vital props and could only film the first 10-15 seconds of the trailer.
The battery almost nearly died too, which would have disrupted the shooting anyway.
Safety...
Moving any water bottles and keeping food away from the electrical equipment.
Making sure no bags or shoes are on set for shooting to ensure that nobody could trip up and potentially injure themselves.
Filiming...
Keeping enough battery life on the camera for shooting.
Enough space on the tape for filming.
Making sure that when beginning the shoot, the tape is in the right place so that we don't overwrite any important footage.
Equipment...
Before we have left for the shooting location, we make sure we have all the correct leads for the cameras.
We also had to bring props, so before arrival, we had to make a checklist to ensure that we don not forgot any props and the shooting is not disrupted.

Diederich - The idea

Our horror movie Diederich, will be set in the present day in Lowestoft.
It is about a young couple who move into the area for a new start.
This house seems pretty normal, but its past goes back 70 years to the second world war where it was home to the british dugout, where all german soldiers and pilots were brought to be tortured for information, and then killed.
What the couple do not know is that Diederich, a german pilot who crash landed on enemy territory, is still trying to escape.
They recieve letters from the 1940s, which they do not read and just discard as junk.
After one night out, the couple return to the house to find all of the letters open, pinned up around the house. Creeped out by this, the man of the house runs over to the patio door and begins to tear them off, revealing the figure of Diederich, wearing a horrifying Gas mask and trench coat.
They flee from the room and go to hide up stairs, where they find the teddy bear (Featured in the trailer) hanging from the ceiling in a noose with one of the open letters in its hands. It reads... "I will escape you."
From then on, the couple battle for suvival from the scary figure, completely oblivious to the reasons any of this is happening, leaving the audience on edge the whole time.

Diederich Mood/Contents Board

Here is the mood board for our film, Diederich.
This shows exactly what the movie would contain, what type of movie it is and what it is about.

Draft version for audience feedback

The findings of our first screening from our A2 media class were as follows:
Not enough sound during the first few caption screens (Add music or something)
The OH MY GOD part was Humorous, not supposed to be.
People didn't understand the letters or why the gas mask man was there.
They also found the running towards the camera part funny. The actor in the gas mask was too NOT SCARY.
Some people in the class jumped at the end image of the gas mask man grabbing the camera and where the letters ripped off and revealed him standing there.
